1. Multitasking
"Now you can run your favorite third-party apps — and switch between them instantly — without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily. This smarter approach to multitasking is available only on iPhone" Apple.com
I’ll start off this first point by telling I don’t actually own an iPhone. My Nokia 6500 Slide still does it’s job, but ofcourse I wouldn’t mind owning one of these cool Apple gadgets.
Multitasking is something that has been a long-awaited feature on the iPhone. It simply means you can run four apps simultaneously and switch between them when it suits you. This way, you can play your favourite mp3, while your GPS tells you where to go and your Facebook app notifies you of a new message you received.
This feature is also available for current models by the way. All you need is the free iOS 4 upgrade
2. Retina Display
"Thanks to the Retina display, everything you see and do on iPhone 4 looks amazing. Text in books, web pages, and email is crisp at any size. Images in movies and photos are stunning at almost any angle. That’s because the Retina display’s pixel density is so high, your eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels." -Apple.com
Simply put: this makes the clear and sharp screen the iPhone already had even more beautiful. Apple managed to make the pixels smaller, which helps making edges crisp and clean. The tiniest characters will become readable and also the larger graphics get some more finesse.
3. FaceTime
"People have been dreaming about video calling for decades. iPhone 4 makes it a reality. With the tap of a button, you can wave hello to your kids, share a smile from across the globe, or watch your best friend laugh at your stories — iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 over Wi-Fi. No other phone makes staying in touch this much fun." -Apple.com
Another step towards video calling, the way you’ve been seeing in all those awesome movies. It doesn’t need much explanation, but it’s worth mentioning that this is supposed to work very, very good with the clearest and fastest moving video stream. You can even use the regular camera lens on the back of the phone to show the one your calling what you’re looking at at that moment.
Currently this feature is only available from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 over Wifi, but it’s a good start!
4. HD Video Recording
"Because your iPhone goes with you everywhere, you’re always ready to capture every moment. And with iPhone 4, you can do it in stunning high definition. Its advanced backside illumination sensor delivers great-looking video in both bright and low-light settings. And in dark environments, you can brighten the scene with the built-in LED light." -Apple.com
Don’t we all need everything in HD these days? Although it’s not FullHD 1080p, the 720p/30 fps camera inside the iPhone 4 really makes an effort to make beautiful videos. With the power of the new A4 chip (Apple’s newly developed silicon) you can immediately edit and enhance your videos for some great effect.
Another awesome feature while filming is this:
Say you’re recording a scene with subjects in both the foreground and the background. How do you make sure the camera focuses where you want? Just tap that part of the image on the iPhone 4 display. The camera immediately focuses on it and adjusts exposure to match the lighting. When you want to focus on another part of the scene, just tap again. Cool!
5. It looks better!
Apple gave the iPhone 4 a new design and I must say I think it looks WAY better than the old, rounder design. It’s incredibly slim and the overall design is based on some more awesome shapes.
Also, Apple made use of some high-tech glass, apparently used on helicopters, that makes the phone more durable and reduces glare from the sun. Not only the front of the phone has this glass, but also the back, so no more cracks when you like to keep it in your jeans’ pocket.
So, go buy the iPhone 4 and sells your iPhone 3G ^^
